Poll Started 29 August: Olympic Payment. Athens has ended. It was a great show. How much (if at all)do you want the Olympics in the UK?. Putting the theory into pounds, if we had to pay to host it, how much would you be willing to put in the pot to have a London 2012? I'd pay £100 - that's got to be cheaper than travelling to Bejing to see the next games!

  • I understand that Ken Livingstone and Sebastian Coe are going to force London area council tax payers to pay an additional sum on council tax rates over the next 7 years to help pay for the Olympic Games in 2012.
If I am correct in my understanding, I would like to know if this additional charge on the rates is legal and if so can it be challenged?
I suspect that there is a majority of council tax payers in the London area that do not want their rates increased with an additional charge that will not provide them with any significant benefit.
