Can someone shed any light or has it happened to anyone before? I applied for MBNA Platinum card last Thursday but got the 7 to 10 message. I called on Monday and after been put on hold for 10 minutes was told that while my accounts were well managed they could not approve my application this time due to my loan which has still a large amount & my rent amount.
Last night I received an e-mail from MBNA saying that I had been accepted with a £5000 credit limit!!

Checking my Experian report today, I've noticed that they did a search on the 27/07 the day I applied and then again on the 01/08 the day I called and told I was declined....just have to see what happens next I suppose!

    How odd.

My mother applied for MBNA Platinum VISA on 2nd July and didn't get an email until what, last Saturday, to say she was accepted and card is on it's way.

Seems their applications team are overworked or they have some newbies on board.
