Does anyone know what, if anything, my wife can claim for? This is our situation:
My wife and I are currently both employed. We are relocating to Lincolnshire (from Sussex), and while I can continue in my employment as I work from home my wife will have to leave her job. I am a higher rate tax payer and my wife has been in her job for about 6 years.
So I suppose the question is: can my wife claim Job Seekers Allowance or will the fact that she has resigned, or my emplyment, mean that she is ineligible to claim?
Thanks in advance,
Jase.

I don't think she'll be able to claim because she resigned.
Possibly if the relocation was forced by your work, she might be able to appeal, but since it's clearly a relocation of choice I don't think there would be any grounds.
You could always try phoning the local jobcentre or whatever they are called now and asking? Or there may be something in the stickies at the top of this board.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Your wife will be able to claim contribution based JSA for six months assuming she has paid enough contributions. There may be a sanction for between 2 and 26 weeks but if the situation is explained and they consider it good cause she may receive JSA, it will also help if she shows she has made efforts to find a new job in the new area. If there is a sanction she can appeal to an independent tribunal who may reduce the period or cancel it altogether.0
