Debit Card Spending limit

I was wondering if there are any max spending limits. Ie. Can't spend more than £1000 on a transaction on the debit card? (Assuming Money is in the account ofcourse)
Is there anything like this or will the payment just go through?

As long as the funds are available in your account you can spend as much as you like in a single transaction. Although chances are if a large spend is outside your normal spending pattern when the retailer tries to put the transaction through it will go to a referal and they will have to call up the card issuer for extra security checks.0

I think the most we've spent is £2000. My husband had to speak to the bank on the phone to verify it.0

Some banks have transaction limits and/or daily limits. I've had trouble spending more than £10,000 at a time, or £25,000 a day, with a Citibank debit card."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

Seems quite capricious at times, but where Barclays are concerned the problems usually arise with internet transactions. Several small transactions in quick succession tend to trigger refusal as do large one-offs. I bought a car 2 months ago and a 'cardholder present' transaction for £12,500 went through no problem - not even a phone call, but I've previously had a smaller payment into an S&S ISA blocked and earlier today £3,000 to pay off a credit card was blocked. Both of these went through the 'Verified By Visa' thing, but that seems pretty useless as the bank overrides it.
Their security department won't say what the transaction limit is, if any. I don't even bother ringing them now and just make alternative arrangements like an online banking payment.0
