I'm an eejit who bought from an obviously dodgy site

Oh dear oh dear... really messed up here. I bought some furniture from a mostly professional looking website some time ago. The money went from my credit card immediately via a system called Sage Pay. The furniture website then emailed (using a hotmail account...) to say that delivery would be 6-8 weeks. We're now getting to that time and I haven't had an update so called today and was told it would still be 6-8 weeks and that the MD was chasing up the supplier daily.
I've now found numerous poor reviews online and am not prepared to wait for something that may never arrived. So I cancelled my order, and had them confirm twice that the money would be back in my account within 10 days. Unfortunately I didn't have them confirm the amount but I will chase this up now as I expect a full refund as I haven't received any of the goods.
Is there anything more I should be doing to limit damage to myself? As I say, I paid on a credit card and have email confirmations of the amount paid and that my money would be returned. Is there anything more I can do, besides hope and pray the money is actually returned?

What was the website out of interest.
Sage pay dont just issue merchant accounts to anyone, Without going into detail about the company.0 -
Well, I too am having problems with an internet site which took payment using SagePay. Not received my goods (not furniture)despite the fact they were supposed to be sent by 1st class recorded. Asked them for the tracking number and they haven't replied. The SagePay receipt more or less says "If you have any problems, we don't want to know"! Something needs to be done to make them more liable for transactions completed using their service.Sage pay dont just issue merchant accounts to anyone, Without going into detail about the company.0 -
bcl I noticed the same thing, it's really not nice to see everyone washing their hands of responsibility. Well the company (furniture-barn.co.uk) have confirmed they will pay the full amount back so I guess I just have to wait and see...0
