Changing suppliers and what?

Hi all,
I'm sure it's been done to death on here but I'm in need of some advice with the big supplier price hikes.
I'm currently on British Gas websaver 11 and what with the increase planned on the 18th Aug I need to change as it's not fixed. I have read the information about end the contract early to waiver the £30 fee, has anyone tried this?
It's a little confusing which tariff I should go for, EDF Fixed Saver 2 seems the best fixed tariff but it only fixed till Sep 2012. EDF Fixed 2014 is more expensive but fixed for longer. I've been looking via uswitch so it doesn't should prices that have been increased so it would be cheaper after the hike.
Is there other tariffs that should be considered? Would it be best to go for a long as possible fixed tariff?
Thanks for any advice,
Dan
