Car warranty question

We looked at a 2008 Zafira today at a garage it has done 41,000 miles,during the test drive i noticed a noise when the clutch was pressed down which i am guessing is the dual mass flywheel or similar problem.
The car was perfect in every other way, it comes with a 12 month warranty with warrantywise (Quentin Wilsons company).

It has the gold cover which covers the dual mass flywheel etc.
I asked the salesman if i could just take it to a Vauxhall garage to be repaired and he said yes .
We really want the car but don`t want to get to a Vauxhall garage only for them to say we aren`t covered for the repair .

I don`t mind taking the car IF it is covered

Or should we ask the garage to get it repaired before we take it ?

definatly get the garage to fix it before you buy.

I agree. You shouldn't be buying a defective car, and they shouldn't be selling a defective car!

Get it sorted, or no deal.

My experiences of DMF are that when the car is in neutral you will hear the DMF 'thumping' about - or certainly you will hear a noise that will go away when you put the clutch IN.

The problem with the one you test drove could be thrust bearing, but its unlikely to be very noisy?

Personally, there is no world shortage of 08 Zafiras - if the garage wont fix it prior to the sale, i'd walk away. If its still under manufacturers warranty, get them to get it through the warranty claim before you buy.

You could be opening a whole can of worms trying to get it sorted under warranty.

I'd be asking the garage to do the DMF as part of the deal.

The warranty might cover the DMF, but in my experience DMF's are only covered if they fail ie fall to pieces due to a fault, not fail due to wear and tear. Which is what it is in this instance.

How can the garage selling you the car/warranty know 100% that Warranty Wise will payout fully without any form of diagnosis.

There are other Zaffy's out there, so shop around...

The garage would be scamming warranty wise if they sold a car with a known fault then expected the buyer to make a claim.

That in itself could open a can of worms.

and more to the point what else is wrong with the car that they dont want to fix prior to sale and expect a 3rd party to pick up
