Advice on what to do next

Hi,

I was hoping someone could give me a bit of advice please as i seem to have hit a brick wall. It's a bit of a long story so please bear with me.

In 2008 i bought two new sofas from SCS. When i went to choose one i had a sales woman come up to me to give her advice. I was heavily pregnant at the time and had my son with me. I had looked at leather sofas as they're easy to keep clean but spotted a fabric one that i liked. I was about to walk away from it when the sales woman approached me. I explained that i liked it but it wasn't worth the risk as it would get grubby. She told me not to worry about that as they had a scotch guard service that i could purchase. She explained that if i purchased it the sofas would be scotch guarded and would be covered for 5 years and if they became dirty i coul just phone up and they would be cleaned a re-scotch guarded again up to 5 times.

Needless to say i thought this was a great idea and bought my sofas and the scotch guard for an extra £250.

I noticed a few months ago that they were starting to look grubby so i called the number on the certificate to be told that my sofas were never scotch guarded and i had been sold an insurance policy, where they sent cleaning products through the post for you to clean spot stains yourself!!!

I contacted SCS immediately to be told by the manager that if i wasn't happy i should have cancelled it in the cooling off period. I explained that i couldn't have done that because i was not aware it was an insurance policy and that the sales person had blatently lied to me. She even told me my sofas would take a bit longer for delivery as they had to be sent off for scotch guarding!!! She asked me to put it in writing, which i did.

Weeks went by and i heard nothing, i phoned several times and was fobbed off each time by sales staff saying she was busy so i contacted Consumer Direct. They advised me to write to them again so this time i wrote to their head office.

After a few weeks i received a phone call from the branch manager asking me to wait a bit longer as she needed to refer it to the regional manager who was on holiday.

Two weeks later there was still no reply so i called again to be told that they were not willing to do anything. I asked her to put this in writing and am still waiting for this 4 weeks later.

Consumer Direct told me that my only option now is small claims court but i have no idea where to start.

Can anyone please help me :(
