EDF no paperwork arrived
Advice please
I applied to change my suppliers to EDF on the 20th July 2011 via moneysupermarket.com, received what I assume was an automated email saying my application has been sent to EDF energy
I have heard nothing since
Have tried contacting EDF, severe delays, have emailed them and emailed moneysupermarket
What should I do next??
Really want to get the process started before I go on holiday in a couple of weeks
Do I assume something has gone wrong and apply again?
Thanks in anticipation
Steve

I would persevere with trying to get through to them and confirming your switch - they are in a total mess at the moment and people just aren't getting their paperwork through.
You will need to wait on hold for a good hour to get through - to be fair when you do speak to them I have always found them helpful.0 -
I'm amazed that their fixed tariffs haven't been pulled - they must have picked up 100s of thousands of new customers in the last 2-3 months.0

I would say you should (for the moment) stick with the "presumption" that the application has been passed to Edf (and received). Another "application" really could cause chaos.
That said, in my own case (switching via TheEnergyShop), my first communication from Edf was a "confirm your email address" email, 5 days after the switch was initiated, then a welcome pack dated only 2 days after the switch (but received some time after the email).
So that is not quite such good news for you. Still think you need play it long and deal with any process failure through the complaints procedure.0 -
If you switched on 20/7, then you are not going to be on supply before end August/early September. 4-6 weeks is the norm.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

To all that have posted replies
I will just hang in for a while and see what happens
I just hope I get a reply to the emails I have sent

Have you tried contacting your present supplier and asking them if EDF are applying to take over from them? It may be easier to get hold of them, than EDF at present0

Just an update
Things appear to be moving, email from EDF this morning asking me to confirm my email address.
Then leads me to My Account page, which needs an account number, I assume this comes later

In my case the "Welcome Pack" letter containing the account number was dated a few days before the email and arrived a few days after the email.0 -
i signed up for a switch with edf on the 2nd of august, received my welcome pack this morning for electric only, gas to follow according to the online chat advisor i spoke to this morning.0

You should have already received a Welcome to EDF letter in the post before that email arrived - I don't think they know what first class post is!
That contains your contract account number which you use to setup the online account.
If it doesn't turn up in the post on Monday or Tuesday I would suggest you need to ring EDF although there's no rush because you're still weeks away from your switch completing and going live.
Having access to "MyAccount" does allow you to keep an eye on the progress of the switch and to submit your opening meter readings as and when they ask for them.
It's also a good idea to keep an eye on the "My messages" section throughout the process as stuff can appear in there without advance notice or you may be advised by email that you have a new message but it doesn't appear in "My messages" for many hours or even days sometimes.
The only other advice I would offer is to read everything they send carefully as they don't clearly distinguish between gas and electric in their letter headings which could easily be confusing in a dual fuel switch situation.
I don't think EDF have quite got to grips with that newfangled stuff called gas yet as the switch for that seem be taking 7/10 days longer than for electric!0
