Whilst out today, the wife spoke with our next door neighbour, who introduced her to " the cav wall man". Now without any survey told her as he was next door and ours wasnt done he could either, blank the cav where the props join or just carry on and do ours.
what he wasnt looking at though was 2/3 of our front is new and has insualtion batts in ( extension 5 yers ago) so it is only the front room approx 3mt widw that needs doing at the front, at the back its the kitchen and dining area approx 5mt. Thus 8mt X 3mt (bungalow)
he quoted what seems to be the standard price with grants of £149.
Now what to do. when he comes challenge him on this blanking off, how can he do it? tell him his quote of £149 whilst good for the whole prop, he only has to do 1/3 of it. offer him £50 cash. or do i just not bother. evrywhere else is up to regs of 5 years ago ie upvc / glass and extra 9" ? in loft.

To be eligible for the 'grant' price, I think you need a certain proportion of your house to be done. I've recently had CWI fitted to a semi-detached, but the front wall wasn't thick enough for it to be installed. I was just above the % for the side and rear.0
