Credit account rejected with next

Hi,
Just wondered if anyone could advise. Sorry if its in the wrong place.
Around June 2009 I applied for an account with these. This was rejected. I have recently check my credit file and I notice that my file shows an account with these was open in June 2009 and settled in May 2010 with a £150 limit.
I have rang them to query this and they advise that when the application was rejected they gave me a cash account. Would this still appear on my credit file?
Cheers
