ideal boiler problem

hi, i have a ideal mini c32 combi boiler. last week it was failing to ignite, the red locked out light kept appearing. i removed the screw in the middle of the pump, a little water came out but the boiler fired up straight away.
was some thing getting jammed inside the pump or do you think it could be a washer etc.
my new issue is... my current pressure on my boiler is 1.5. when i switch on the central heater to full heat, the pressure within 5minutes raises to over 3.5 heading towards 4.0. the overflow pipe outside my house also starts to drip water. however, if i turn the heating down halfway the pressure bar comes down eventually to its original position?? any idea why the pressure goes so high so quickly when heating is on full??

Sorry but your going to need an Engineer for this. It sounds like a problem with the expansion vessel. It might just need re pressurising but then again, it might need replacing. You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0

If you remove the cap on the exp vessel valve, press it and water comes out, then it is time for a new expansion vessel.
If it just does a little hiss, or nothing, then it needs re-pressurising. The boiler would have to be drained to do this.
You don't need a RGI to check this as there are no gas parts to disturb to check it or re-pressurise.
Replacement would need someone in as a like for like replacement will need the flue removed if the flue goes off the top and behind the boiler.
Your other lockout fault, will most probably need a RGI in to check.0
