AVG Anti virus uninstall old?

Hi just wanted some advice. The AVG anti virus has come to an end but is being replaced by a different/new version. Do I have to uninstall the old one before installing the new? or the otherway around?
TIA
D

Thanks for the fast reply ...do I leave the 'old ' version on my computer or does it update the one that's being replaced?
    TIA

Will the new version work without the old version on the computer? i.e. standalone install (no upgrade)

The version of 7.5 is the complete package so you can use it to install fresh
    (available here)

Actually you're supposed to click 'repair' during the install (as it says on the page I've linked to above)

But I missed those instructions and just installed over - Didn't seem to cause any problems.

I use Ad-ware and Spybot, they both catch things the other misses.

I agree with Al Mac, I use these two but it requires maunal checking and updating. As long as you keep these up to date these will be fine for you.

Can't say I've tried AVG, sorry.

avg anti spyware is the old ewido software. Ad aware is fine but it's not very powerful - they've done nothing but update their databases for 3 years. It won't remove the more stubborn variants of spyware particularly stuff like lop.

give avg a go - it's much better than ad aware and non-scheduling is not really a problem.
