Some Internet Pages Wont Load

Hi all, my problem is that some internet pages will not load for me where as others will, my main problem is that i cannot get onto the halifax's website to look at my accounts, when i enter the address and click go the page just will not load although there are some "progress" bars at the bottom but they dont ever fill up and the page NEVER loads! this happens with other sites as well. Any advice would be gratefully recieved!

Check tools - internet options and make sure you have no silly security settings in place. Set to default if necessary. Check pop-up blocker software and firewall aren't blocking the pages.

Download and install net framework http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=262d25e3-f589-4842-8157-034d1e7cf3a3&displaylang=en as not having net framework can cause a few issues, also change a setting in Internet Explorer if you use it, open IE, Tools, Internet Options, General Tab then click on settings under browsing history and tick "Every time I visit a webpage" then click ok ok.

sounds more like a firewall issue. check that it hasn't blocked a website or components.

Are you able to use two different web browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer and Firefox) to check whether there's a problem with your browser or with your network settings?

Could be Active X controls and plug-ins being used on the sites which are disabled in your browser.

Tools, Internet Options, Security. Click on Custom Level and change any that are disabled to "Prompt". Close IE and then retry.
  • Hi : I dont know whether youve sorted out your problem yet but I am having similar trouble with several web sites. I called my online banking people and they asked whether I was using Internet Explorer 7. I confirmed yes. They said that they do not as yet support this new browser but it would be added to their list soon. So it could be a simply that these web sites do not as yet support IE7.
