Car crashed into my garden

Through my fence destroying it in the process. I know who it is and he admitted it was him. He's offered to pay for the damage and avoid losing any no claims so long as it's not too expensive to repair.
So what do I do?? do I get his insurance details and contact them? it happened on a private lane so will the insurance people even want to know?
The quote is about four times the amount he expected to pay (I havent told him yet).. poor fella is about 90 but this is the third time he's crashed into me.. First time it was minor and the last time I was in the car and the insurance dealt with it.

Hmm, it's a bit complicated really. I guess you could just tell him to cough up and not involve the insurance company (although this is probably fraud but on whose part I'm not sure, probably only his). I don't think it makes any difference in terms of insurance whether the accident happened on a private road or the public highway - I think they'd still be interested.
One other thing to consider though... perhaps if you do tell his insurance company they'll put his premiums up so much he'll think twice about driving again! Let's face it... next time it could be a whole lot worse...
Out of interest, would you try claiming on your household insurance? Are things like this even covered?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
