Changing Bank Address

Options
Hi, i've recently moved house from Wales to Lincolnshire, and i was wondering if it was more beneficial to change bank address to the local branch or to just leave it at the original branch in Wales.

Many thanks..

  • Absolutely ZERO point changing bank accounts. Makes no difference at all, except for having to open a new account, transfer your DDs/SOs and give employers new acct info.

Complete waste of time and effort!

You can do anything at any branch - so no need at all.
Before you ask, yes, I work for a bank, but no, I didn't get a bonus!
  • I'd agree
I did much the same....and left the accounts at my old branch some 100+ miles away.
That was now 11 years ago......so I've never visited my 'home branch' in 11 years!

When I banked with Nationwide my purse containing my cash card was stolen. I was told by their lost and stolen team that if I went to any branch with I.D that I could access my money no problem. So I duly went in with my passport and asked to take some money out. Is this your home branch? I wwas asked. No, I said. Sorry, said the cashier with a supercilious smirk. We can't help you, you will have to go to your home branch. I explained my situation and said lost and stolen had said that I could go to any branch but she said no, you have to go to your home branch. It was only when a colleague of hers overheard this that they asked where my home branch was. Newcastle upon Tyne I replied. Th is was in Liverpool. I reiterated then this was my only account and ow did they expect me to get to my home branch? They relented then. So this is a warning if you bank with Nationwide its not always centralised! Account is w ith Barclays now and my branch is still Liverpool but I manage it from Leicester just fine.

I've never had an issue with Nationwide personally. I just use the Swindon office whenever asked :D

I'm not sure which would be my local branch, lol.
