Company misadvertised tent

My friend bought a tent from a company who were advertising this season's version of a tent. When he received it he found they sent out last years version.
He bought this one specially because this season's version is a couple of KGs lighter than last seasons one.
Can he make them send him the right version because they mis-advertised on the website?

Does it matter, it does the same job lol.0

Of course it matters.
He was going to buy a 2 man tent because they are usually lighter but this 3 man tent was lighter and when you are carrying it for miles, then a couple of KGs will make a lot of difference.
So no it does not do the same job.0 -
it does do the same job, You buy a backpack that can attach your tent to so you dont need to carry the pack.
A 2/3 man tent isn't exactly massive or heavy.0 -
I don't know why but the further you walk the heavier it seems to get so yes, every Kg counts in this instance
I'd double check your facts & and if you are right, ask them to correct the error. You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0 -

You are still carrying the backpack though so it is the same.
I think this years version is 1.9kg and last years is 4.3kg. A difference of 2.4Kgs.
He took a screenshot of what they were advertising and the tent he received is definitely the heavier one. I will tell him to get them to correct the error.

I do know what its like to carry a tent for miles thank you.
Didn't make any difference how big or heavy it was to me.
My backpack took most of the weight so not a problem.
Wouldn't like to see your mate carrying a camping seat.0 -

And what takes the weight of your backpack ?
Look at the issue from another angle, imagine they ordered an iMac. The company sent them last years slower one instead of the fast one they paid for. Would you say 'suck it up, it's just a mac, they all do the same thing' ?0 -

Someone who does things the hard way. If your camping/walking for even a weekend every kg counts, thats why the lighter it is generally the more expensive it is. When taking into account, food, liquids, clothing, cooking equipment etc, 2.5kg of unnecessary weight well its unnecessary
sorry cant spell uncesenary0 -
And the award for the most stupid comment of the day goes to:
.My backpack took most of the weight so not a problem.
So are we to assume that your backpack carried your tent and walked along behind you?
(and before you ask, yes I have done plenty of camping and hiking, the most recent of which was a 10 day hike through part of the Appalachian Trail).
A good backpack will distribute the weight far better than a cheapie, but however well it is made it is a fact that the loaded weight still has to be carried by the person using it.0 -
