Beware order of allocation loophole

I've got a balance transfer on my Barclaycard, and haven't been using the card other than paying the minimum each month.

Whilst I was on holiday I needed to use the card, so as soon as I saw the sterling equivalent on my online credit card account I made a payment of this amount to minimise the interest.

Barclaycard allocated this payment to my 0% balance transfer, and not to the interest-bearing purchases!!

They claimed that because the purchases hadn't yet appeared on an official statement it wasn't possible for me to make a payment that could be allocated against them.

After an hour on the telephone, they have agreed to waive all interest on these purchases until the end of my balance transfer period in January, however they are adamant that they are correct to apply my payment to my balance transfer in this case.

Be warned!

they are totally correct to do that as well....
until the puchase shows on the stateent the payment will go to the lowest Apr..... its simple you dont understand the t&c's....

Any purchases take 3-5days to show on the statement screens, until they do, the above will apply.
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?

I couldn't find the Barclaycard TandCs online to check, but Halifax Clarity TandCs I checked earlier today for another thread would have categorised this as an overpayment of the previous statement - and then on a daily basis allocated the payment normally. Well I think that is what they say.

I think the OP stated the transaction was showing on the account.

Got a link to the Barclaycard TandCs so I can try and fail to understand?

The purchases I made were showing on the online statement. I made the payment to clear these purchases on July 18th; Barclaycard produced my official statement on July 19th.

I've been struggling to find a set of their CC T&Cs online to check.

Bcard are talking gumph. once the transaction appears on the account (doesnt need to be the monthly generated statement), then any payments made after that will be paid to the highest Apr.
