Although there are quite a few forums out there that deal with HJT logs, I feel this is such a non-threatening site that it encourages those who may not otherwise seek help. The answers that Browntoa, Albert et al etc give are concise and in plain language; so I vote yes and hope for the forgiveness of the above mentioned

What do the experts (you know who you are) think of automatic analysis sites like this one http://www.hijackthis.de/
Are they reliable and/or sufficisntly thorough?Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0 -
Hi all,
For those of us who dont understand what your asking can you explain what you mean by a 'hijackthis section ?' Why do you want one ?"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
Hijackthis is a tool for removing particularly stubborn spyware/malware which other tools such as Ad-aware and Spybot are unable to shift.
However, because it is removing things from Windows registry, if you tell Hijackthis to remove the wrong thing it can have disastrous effects! Hence it is best to post the logfile produced by the program for others, who know what they are looking for, to tell you what to remove.Charlie0 -
The problem is with working on Hijack logs is this, That someone who is helping may inadvertently make a mistake and completely shaft the users PC and so the user may not get back online so the first thing thats needed is a disclaimer of some sort, Ive seen it on other sites where the helper got it wrong and the air goes blue very quickly.
If people want to do Logs thats fair enough but the "client" must be aware of the risks associated with log fixing thats why I think its a bad idea to fix logs on an open forum where other users may "butt" in and give bad advice when certain members are away.
I would point them here first http://www.hijackthis.de/ as already mentioned.
This is my opinion only.0 -
My thoughts are that the forums that have been helping people with hijack this for a number of years are the best place to start.
Hijack this can be downloaded here.
These forums are experienced in dealing with hijack this:
Spywareinfo
d-a-l
hijack this.de
I am not a geek.
