Lake Garda - 1 week spending money?

Hello,

Me and my better half are going to Lake Garda (Riva Del Garda) for a week on Saturday August 13th. We are staying at the Antico Borgo hotel on a B&B basis.

We cant wait as we have never been to Italy before and are very excited.:j

We are unsure exactly how much spending money we should take. We are aware the euro isnt great and that Italy is quite an expensive place.

We intend visiting Venice and the travel agents guide states that this is around 60 euros per person if you go on a coach tour.

Apart from that we will do some walking (Not loads as its a relaxing holiday!) and maybe visit another couple of towns/villages in the north area of the Lake.

Would around £600 / £700 be ample for a week?

Should be, but the question is rather like "how long is a piece of string"

    Fair enough reply. :D

For a bit more information neither of us are big drinkers and apart from the day trip to venice and maybe 1/2 other days visiting other towns we'll be walking round the town where we are grabbing some light lunch and then an evening meal.

I went to Lake Garda last year and stayed in Peschiera and it was beautiful and very relaxing. We did our sightseeing on boat trips to other locations round the lake which are between 30mins and 2hrs but you don't really notice the time on the boat. Costs are about €6-10 for lunch dishes at restaurants and €7-15 for dinner depending on where you eat. We ate a lot of ice cream because it was so hot - and delicious;) Make sure you factor in drinks if you buy 500ml water from shops it's €1.50-2.50 unless there's a grocery store near you to buy larger bottles. Venice is hugely expensive - bring a picnic sandwich and drink with you or be prepared to double your usual spend. Personally I'd go to Verona it was lovely and easy to get to on the bus - we bought a Verona card for €10 which got us into arena, Juliet's house and a discount on a sightseeing tour. We spent about €900 but did do lots of boat trips/Gardaland/drink a couple of beers each day but also we were camping and BBQed a lot so didn't eat out every meal.
