    KLM preferred?

    Wow.

Consider yourself very lucky. Last time I flew KLM, the cockpit windscreen shattered and, despite being over London, they decided to fly back to AMS (at 10000ft) for their convenience,.

The shrug of their shoulders after landing and the fleapit of the hotel they put us up in for 16 hours made me decide never to fly with them again.

When meal came out my husband asked for a beer and he was told they had run out, this was 2 hours into the flight. All alcohol had run out five hours into the flight. The flight attendants were happily throwing alcohol to the stag party on board but forgetting that sensible drinkers may not wish to drink the beer dry in 2 hours and may wish to spread a few drinks out over the flight.

Alcohol on Virgin Atlantic flights is complimentary, you do not pay for it.

To be fair this sounds like a pretty standard experience in any economy cabin.

If you want a decent seat, free flowing drinks, and better food it may be time to start booking premium / business depending on the airline.

Virgin's premium economy routes out of Heathrow are a really enjoyable place to be.

A little tip for you - when writing a complaint never at any point mention that it was the first time that you had used a particular company's service.

The reason being is that the company will only make an extra effort to try and appease your distaste with them if they feel that they may be losing a regular customer. Of course, in one sense they are losing a potentially regular customer but in experience a customer who feels the need to make a formal complaint after the very first use of a company's services is not going to be paying to use that company's services again no matter what type of goodwill gesture is offered so Virgin will look at your complaint, read that you've never used them before and prefer KLM anyway and think that letting you have some free tickets or a free upgrade on your next flight won't be worth it because if and after you take them up on such an offer you likely won't be flying with them again anyway.
