Credit rating

Options
I bought my wife a Virgin PAYG mobile phone for christmas. She registered it and asked to pay by direct debit instead of top up. Virgin told her that she had a failed credit score and gave her a phone number and web address for the company that do thier credit ratings, Equifax. My wife tried to contact Equifax by phone and email but the only way you can challenge thier rating of you is to pay £14.95 for a copy of the credit rating! Talk about rip off! I have advised my wife to tell virgin to sort it out or she will revert to her old network (Orange) where she had no problems paying by direct debit. If I had known about this beforehand I would have bought her an Orange phone.
Beware!!

Not true , you can apply for your basic credit rating , and it should only cost £2 .

Dont fall for any of their other services . Same for Experian . Just apply for the basic (or "Statutory") credit report .
Virgin dont get any money from credit reports . When you apply for credit you will get searched by Equifax or Experian or both . If some of the information on your report looks dodgy , you have a low credit rating or have too many outgoings , you may get seen as a high risk and you may get refused credit .
  • Thanks. I could'nt find this on thier site.
  • Equifax are doing a 30 day trial at the moment type in google the following

I downloaded the trial yesterday after o2 did the same to me and declined me credit, several long phone calls discussing the contents of my equifax report they then apologisd and offered me a contract.
