Does anyone know about Chugs?

Options
OH doesn't want a Cavalier :( But he says he'd love a Pug. Ok, so we look online for breeders, seller and are amazed that the price of a pug is £900+!!! No way are we spending that much! But we saw things like Wugs, Jugs, Pugaliers and Chugs.

He likes the look of one of the Chugs (Pug x chihuahua) But what are they actually like? I like the ones that look more like the pugs than chihuahuas.

What would you look out for when buying a Chug? Also I'm guessing as it's not a pedigree there won't be any papers at all. Is this normal?

A yappy Chi mixed with a pug that can't breath properly. Can't see the appeal myself.

You can dress them up with all the fancy names you want, but these new 'trendy' dogs are just what used to be called mongrels!

  • Why are you potentially paying a lot of money for a common or garden mutt?

You could get the best of both breeds or more likely, the worst as nobody knows what to look for.

Look up the problems each has and then take them and put them together. For example, the head problems with Cavaliers and the breathing problems with Pugs. That'll be roughly what you could expect.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Have to agree, you will be paying money for a mongrel - quite a bit usually when you can save yourself a fortune by heading off to any of the reputable rescue centres around the country and giving a home to a mongrel in dire need of one

The annoying thing is the kids have to be 5 for me to adopt a dog from there which would be the wrong time to get one as I was DD's to grow up together with a dog. So would you say £300 for a "Chug" is a lot?

Can i also point out, looking online is no way of finding a breeder.

Yes look online for the breed club website ( of the breed you are looking to purchase) and get the phone numbers of the club secretaries in the areas you are prepared to travel to for find a pup. Then you start the phone calls to them looking for breeder recommendations then get out there and meet potential breeders

Expect it to take weeks - if not months to find your pedigree pup

If you arent prepared to do the leg work and research then as Ive already suggested theres plenty of dogs in rescues

    £300!!!!

Mongrels were given away - now irresponsible puppy farmers( and yes if you buy one of these "designer" dogs you will be supporting puppy farming) give them fancy names and charge idiots a lot of money

there will be rescues that will home to you with children if you look hard enough

i get annoyed at the number of people who want pedigree this or genetic mutation that, when there are thousands of dogs waiting to be put down
