help.. bt box in the way

please can someone fill me in on what i could do ..if anything , the situation is i have just exchanged on a new built house . however , we checked out the site afew weeks ago and there is a green bt box outside the front door , just off the front garden , direclty facing the front door . about 2 metres fron the front door this is the green cable bt box . i have spoken to my solicitor and he recon its not on the plot iself so there is nothing we can . but surely i would of had to be told this when surveys were done, its quite undesirable to have this and is a silly place for a box . i have contacted bt , who informed me that they would speak to the developers. the house is getting there and is looking great apart from this , we are due to complete soon , what can i do , bt informed me it costs 10 000 pounds to move . i can not afford this , surely this has been hidden from me by the developers . the box was there before the house , but i did not think the develpment would put the house diectly infront of the front door, what can i do . please advise?

  • We're buying a new build too, hopefully March entry. When we had our initial meeting with the site manager after reserving, he took us through all the plans relevant to our plot, including the development overview and service provisions which showed us where all the drains, cables and boxes will be.

Did you not get to see these things on the plans? If the box isn't actually on your plot, then I don't know that there's very much you can do other than appeal to the better nature of the developers.

if the box was there before the house, and you saw the house being built, i dont think now is the time to be complaining about it - why did you not talk to the builders long ago ?
