David Lloyds huge scam for play centre

David Lloyds in their infinite wisdom have now decided to charge babies over 3 months old £5 to enter their soft play centres.

So from 3 months to about a year old how exactly do these babies use the facilities? we have a two year old who loves the soft centre in Leeds in the David Lloyds gym but we are not going to pay another £5 for my 3 month old daughter to watch her play!

Are David Lloyds unique in charging 3 month old babies?

Send 'em down the sweatshops at 3 months, by the time they're old enough to play they will have enough money to enter.

Do they have extra staff in for this? Do they mind the child or are parents there all the time? Next they'll be wanting to charge the parents for chair rental while they supervise their own children!!

How much did they used to charge? Is this somewhere you leave your kids whilst you use the gym equipment/go for a swim? Or do you have to stay with the child?

There are no staff in this area. No one looks after the babies of 3 months old that pay apart from the parents. Its a play area and attached to the gym where parents stay with the kids.

It's a new charge babies used to enter free as they cant play! they sit in their seats.

Just a con. Wont be going again.

It does seem a rip off then! I assume parents don't pay? Just the kids? But, like you say, a 3 month old baby's not going to get much out of a play area!

I would say charging £5 for someone to use the play facilities that they simply cannot use as they are too young is a scam, fraud.

Indeed, in true MSE style that's not a scam.

I'd be more tempted to question the wisdom of a parent leaving their 3 month old child in a unattended play area.

Erm its not a place you leave your kids. Its not a place where parents go to use the gym and leave the kids to play. The parents would always be there, we stayed there and eat while our 2 year old played in the centre, we had our 3 month old sat with us while she played.

3 month old babies cannot play or do anything in the area so that's the con. They sit and dribble/sleep So they are charging young babies to simple go in and sit there.

Fraud - No.
A scam - No.
A rip off - Yes.

Just don't go back, or get someone to look after the toddler when you take your other kids. Simples.
