Kings Cross to Stansted Airport ?

Hi Guys. Hope this is in the right place (travel Plan?) I am trying to get to Stansted Airport from Newcastle, since Easyjet took this flight off I have problem. I can get train from Newcastle to Kings Cross but what is the best and easiest way to get to Stansted Airport. Looked on Transport Direct and it looks confusing to me. I have never actually been to London, just inside airports. Thankyou.

the quickest trip by train is to Change Trains at Peterborough then Stansted is about another half hour trip from their.
I visited last year and I recommend using the eastcoast trains website to book your ticket.

Their maybe quicker ways to get to Stansted but i'm pretty sure this is the quickest way by train.

From Kings Cross the best way to Stansted is to get the Victoria Line tube to Tottenham Hale and the train from there

Stansted is nearer 1.5 hours from Peterborough than half an hour but it does save going into London. Overall there is very little in it - via London can be a few minutes faster, some of the time.

It may no longer be the case, but the service from Peterborough was very unreliable at one time. If running late it would turn round at Cambridge and never reach Stansted.

Yep sorry it is a hour and a half. I didnt read timetable right. Also dzug1 is right about the service being unreliable. During my holidays the train got stuck in Cambridge and had to take a bus to Ely. and I heard the next day the same thing happened.

As others have shown Stansted is a pig to get to if you aren't living in London or the Stansted area.

From my experience it's often easier to get to Gatwick from the north.

I'd also look at other ways of getting to your final destination from Newcastle - try flights via Amsterdam, Brussels or Dublin.

It's the Victoria line from King's Cross to Tottenham Hale. You could also get the Met line from King's Cross to London Liverpool Street and then get the Stansted Express from Liverpool Street. The Vic line is deeper underground than the Met line and it may be a bit more of a hassle if you have luggage.

I usually go via Peterborough as it saves the hassle of getting on and off the underground. You can also get an advance ticket for £6 which is much cheaper than the Stansted Express.

If you are coming down from Newcastle then change at Peterborough. There is no need to go via Kings Cross as you are just doubling back on yourself.

It's just a shame that EasyJet cancelled their NCL-STN service. Living in Cambridge and with family in the North East, I used it regularly.

I know. We have family in Vasteras, Sweden and Ryanair are the only airline that fly there and only from Stansted.
