Magazine Subscription

Hi all
A few weeks ago (at least 5 or 6) a salesman called at my door selling a subscription to a magazine produced locally. After 'umming' and 'arghing' I agreed to sign up for a subscription @ £3.50 p/m with a £5 membership charge being taken out of my bank at the time of the first £3.50 being taken. The salesman left saying that someone from the office would be in contact basically to ensure I was happy etc,
A couple of weeks later I did indeed recieve a phonecall and yes I was happy, especially when he said he could push my direct debit date back a couple more days.
I have checked my bank tonight and they have taken £35 out of my bank which is the cost for the annual subscription! I have double checked the original order form and the pay monthly option box is definately ticked.
So finally my query....obviously I'm fuming! But can I ring them and demand a refund of the full amount including the membership fee? (I should point out that they have sent and I have received my first magazine.) I can't afford that sort of money going out of my bank willy nilly and I'm worried that they have 'free access' to my bank because of the direct debit
Any responses would be greatly appreciated

you can cancel direct debit and claim money back through the direct debit guarentee ask at your bankReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

thanks for this. I've actually just spoke to a one of their customer reps who said she will sort out a refund minus the cost for the first magazine. I think it helped that she was so nice
