Drink driver, ban almost up, where now for car insurance?

I am about to complete a 9 month ban (reduced because of course attendance) for drink driving. (Just over limit, please don't judge me!).
I am a driving enthusiast and am collecting a a performance car this week but the insurance costs are absolutely crippling.
Does anyone have any advice as to the best insurer to go with?

regards
and thanks.

Well you can try confused or insuresupermarket linked at the top of the page.
The good thing about them is that you only enter your details once and they bring up lots of quotes. Perhaps you should consider a run around for a while until you build up a good history and can get a better rate.

i had a 12 month ban in 2003 (also just over the limit but didnt do the course)

anyway! my insurance was not as bad as i thought. i was expecting at least 1-1.5k and it was no where near. although the car i purchased wasnt high performance. i had a ford escort 1.4 and my insurance was 650quid (sorry pound sign doesnt work) i then changed it to a toyota corolla again 1.4 and the amount didnt change.
i went through confused.com to get my insurance. i cant remember who im currently with (divvy blonde moment)

i know your a driving enthusiast but what about getting a crappier one just for a year or 2 until the insurance comes down?
It only seems kinky the first time.. :A
  • So the Insurance Costs are horrendous for now..you say 'quote'...the insurance costs are absolutely crippling...which means as I see it... its going to cost more than I can afford to pay..if so..think again if thats really true to the type of car you buy...who wants to be skint for a vehicle. Mr Old bought a classic MG a few years ago and it really goes like hell..when allowed.. the Insurance is £96.00 a year fully Comp for him...it was not always so in his previous life!!!Mrs Happy
