Must all tenants sign agreement

Hi all
This is the second time I've typed this now, stupid internet, anyway... must all tenants of a property sign the agreement?
My OH and I aren't the most stable of couples (don't comment on that! save it for the !!!!!y thread) and its very likely my OH would up and leave. Now while I'm the sole income and tenant, must my OH sign the agreement?
The only information thing being that the council know who is there right?
regards
dtm

If you're the sole tenant there's no need for him to be on the agreement unless I've misunderstood your question. Also, I don't understand your comment about the council: are you asking about Council Tax or what?0

BaT, I think you've understood my question! lol
Yes, I am sole tenant so that means my OH need not be on the tenancy agreement, despite what the LL says!
As for my CT comment, circumstances regarding who lives at the property for Single Person Discount etc.0 -
Does you OH live with you or not?
If you OH lives with you (even if he doesn't pay rent) he needs to be included on the tenancy agreement either as a tenant or a permitted occupier.
Again, if your OH lives with you you will need to pay full council tax.
I may have misunderstood your question though.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
If the landlord is happy for you to be the sole tenant, AND for you to have a sub-tenant/lodger/whatever, then that's fine.
Many LLs do not agree to this for all sorts of reasons: insurance validity may be dependant on all occupants being on the tenancy; Mortgage Consent To Let likewise; granting rights of occupation to a non-tenant bring legal issues if arrears action/eviction is needed........
If you are claiming 25% single occupancy discount on council tax whilst your OH is in occupation, this is clearly tax fraud.0 -

Sorry, that isn't what I was implying! The only information thing being that the council know who is there right? As for my CT comment, circumstances regarding who lives at the property for Single Person Discount etc.0

Sorry if I made it sound like I was trying to fraud! Not my intention at all.
The Single Person discount was the only circumstantial thing I could name off the top of my head to suggest my point. My point being the landlord has no right to tell them who I am - it should be my responsibility to manage my tax myself.0
