Funeral Loomes Holiday

Hi it is with deep regret my sister has passed away lst night ,but we have a family holiday planned for Sunday i have travel insurance ,i would like some advice on who do i contact and how do i approach them .
we need to goto funeral but as yet not sure of date as waiting for parent to get back from france ,
im sure the friend will let us have the apt the week later ,
jet2 will i have to pay admin to move flights ?
will i be covered for this on insurance ?
it may seem a calous question but we have worked hard for this family holiday and know we must show our support to my sister

The first point of contact should be your travel insurance company.
Im sorry about your sister. One of the questions the insurnace people will ask is has she been ill and was her death expected.
Sometimes this sort of thing isnt covered unless yu told them in advance.
Look in your T&Cs, but it will be quicker to ring the ins company.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

McKneff is right. If it was expected (which doesnt make it any easier) then they may not cover you. Other than that the insurance company should pay out. They will ask for the death certificate. Chek you excesses as sometimes it may be worth just paying the change fee from Jet2 as it'll work out less?
I hope you get your holiday as i'm sure you'll need it.

Firstly, sorry for your loss.
In order to claim on your insurance, you will need to CANCEL your holiday - this is (usually) the only thing they will cover for - not amending a holiday and covering the amendment fees. THe problem with this is that Jet2 do not 'cancel' flights. Instead, you have to wait for the date that your return flight was due to travel, and then request a letter from the airline that you did not travel on the flights booked. From memory, most LCC (including Jet2) will charge you for the privalige, and this charge will probably not be claimable from the insurance (just like a doctor's note).
It may well be advisable chatting with both Jet2 to see what they will charge to change (mention that it is due to a death - they can be sympathetic at times) and then also the insurance to see what they advise. After all, all insurances are different!

I'm sorry to hear about your sister.
In May my FIL passed away and my husband and I were due to go to Berlin that weekend. Slightly different than a package holiday. However my flights were with easyjet and they refunded the full amount afrer I sent them an e-mail explaining the situation. I was very surprised I just had to e-mail them a copy of the death certificate.
