I like pre-paid cards for overseas and am more than happy with my Post Office one which is now chip-and-pin.0

We are going to Salou in September, I had considered a pre paid card however, after having a few chip failures on my debit card over the years and a faulty brand new credit card, I am extremely nervous about relying on a piece of plastic for my holiday spending money, what happens if the the chip fails? lost/stollen Amex travelers cheques can be replaced in 24hrs would the same apply to a pre paid card?I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

Don't know about pre-paid cards, but with normal credit cards you should be able to get a cash advance over the counter at any bank which accepts VISA/MasterCard. I've done this in the past (when I'd forgotton my PIN!!). You'll probably need ID eg passport.
But these days between us we have about 8 different cards so we're pretty much insured against chip failures:) Some better value than others but all are better value than changing cash in the UK or using TCs.0
