aa car insurance

Our car is to be scrapped and we no longer can afford a car. We have 5 months to run on our insurance, but aa say they will not refund us, its not their policy. They will knock 52.00 if we take out a new policy with them, which is no good to us. Can they refuse us a refund. I paid on my switch card the full amount

You legally only have the right to a refund within the first 14 days of purchasing insurance. After that it is down to the terms and condition of each policy on if you can cancel and if you can then what fees they levy for doing this.

There are reasons why some insurers are cheaper than others.

Lesson for the future, make sure you read the T&Cs before the cooling off period has ended.

Usually they will refund you for the unexpired part of the policy, but then some insurers do have t&c's that only let you cancel within 14 days as astaroth said.

did out the policy paperwork and have a look.

It is annoying tho isnt it. Same thing has happened to me before
