Not sure if it helps anybody, but there are some faults with GHDs that can be fixed. There's a website where you can try to find out what's up with your GHDs and then buy the required replacement. Obviously there are some things that you just shouldn't mess with, but for me it was that the inner wire had become loose and so the only way mine would work was when I was holding the end of the wire that attached to the stylers. I got a replacement wire from eBay for £5, DH removed the old and attached the new and ... completely fixed GHDs. I believe this is also why 'broken' GHDs go for so much on eBay - I presume the buyers are fixing them and then re-selling as old GHDs (that work).Thrilled to be DEBT-FREE as of 26.03.10
