Norwich & Peterborough Application

I am also suggesting the initiator of this thread, aldredd to apply for Metro Bank rather than to N&P as N&P is notoriously known to decline people application, although in possession of an excellent credit record.
I did look at Metro - but read that you had to visit a London-based branch, which I wouldn't be able to do.
I think I've got the N&P account anyway, they've sent the paperwork, which I've signed and sent back, so all being well, should be up & running soon!0 -
HSBC do that, ...
They called me while I was in Poland so what ...
I fully believe First Direct will do that as well ......
Nowadays, making an international phone call could be cheaper than making a phone call to someone in the UK, so what is so special about that ....
I am commenting about comparing N&P and first direct ...
We could start by investigating various threads in this forum, I have read many people have provided compliments to First Direct Services.
Apart from this thread, I have not seen enough people do this to N&P (if any) ??
How come N&P is comparable to first direct ... ???
I am also suggesting the initiator of this thread, aldredd to apply for Metro Bank rather than to N&P as N&P is notoriously known to decline people application, although in possession of an excellent credit record. These things have been reported in a lot of threads in this forum. In the meanwhile people apply for a current a/c in Metro Bank get approved in the same day, ..
Fair enough but HSBC and Santander both refused for me. Did you request they called you on a Polish number or did they decide to call you on your English number? Calling Australian mobiles isn't cheaper than the UK but I do agree with your point - it's more standard procedure being not to than worrying over cost.
N&P are a small local building society, of course they haven't got a huge amount of feedback. They only came to prominence when Nationwide stopped their commission free overseas usage. I rarely have to contact banks anyway, so as long as the service is good (I personally can't see how First Direct could be much better - whats so special about them?), perks like free overseas usage is far more important to me.0 -
Yes with metro bank, you have to open it into one of their branches.
Good Luck then with your N&P a/c ...I did look at Metro - but read that you had to visit a London-based branch, which I wouldn't be able to do.

Yes, I asked them to call to my polish mobile number. I explained to them that I was running out credit on my UK number. They did it.
I have got a negative expereince with N&P in a few occasions, especially with getting connected with their phone banking and their customer services over the phine.
But TBH with you I fully agree, my personal experience with N&P can not be generalised we will just wait ad see what other people experience are ...
