Hi,
I am moving house on the 27th September into a rented property with a friend.
I currently pay my council tax on Direct Debit and was wondering what needs to be done to cancel?
Do I just ring my council up and tell them Im moving and where Im moving?
Sorry if it seems simple but Ive never moved before other than out of my parents house.

Yes, you phone them up and tell them you are moving. Give them your new address. If it is within the same borough, they will adjust your remaining payments according to the band of the new property. Do it closer tot he time though.
If you are moving out of the Borough then they should send a cheque to your new address for any overpayment. Or, if you don't pay September's DD installment, they will send you a final bill to pay.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
