Loule Portugal Advice

Hi,
We are booked to go to Portugal in a couple of weeks, staying in Loule. I am looking for some advice on the local area intially ie places to eat, shop etc.
Also does anyone have any good advice and on what to do, where to go during the day? There is a group of 8 of us, with 2 cars, all in mid thirties so would really appreciate any ideas
Also we have been know to enjoy a little drink or 2 in a slightly livelier enviroment, every once in a while. From what i gather Loule is very ‘sleepy’ has anyone some suggestions on the best place for this, bearing in mind we will be using a taxi. Which leads onto another question, we all are staying in a villa, is easy to arrange taxi to pick us up/drop us off etc

Any help and advice on the above would be most appreciated.
Cheers
S

We have stayed a few miles from Loule in a villa a couple of times.
Loule is quite a bustling market town, but with not too much nightlife as far as I can remember.
We stayed in a village called Querenca up in the hills, and I can highly recommend a meal there at either of the restaurants, and there is a great bar called Rosas - very reasonably priced.
As far as taxis - I dont know - might be best to take turns in driving, but take care, as the Portuguese are not the best drivers on the roads!
At Loule you are not far from Albufeira, but we always drove on to Praia da Rocha where there are plenty of bars, and eating places and a big beach.
We have had some lovely holidays in that part of the Algarve so I'm sure you will all have a great time.
