Is this laptop any good for me?

^^^ true, but I was just reporting as I've found

Still think the acer i3/3GB ram is a cracking deal at the price, if I was in the market for a new one I'd probably snatch their hands off
To show that I agree with you, I just bought one for my brother. Will be his birthday present.

an hours effort would probably fix the slowness, either a backup and reinstall using acer erecovery or a cleanup

I suggest you try out the hp keyboard/mouse/mouse buttons/screen before buying it!!

Why do you suggest trying the keyboard/mouse etc? Are HPs in some way drastically different to any other brand. I'm sure every laptop is slightly different in the way they are set up but I can't imagine it would cause massive problems or am I missing something?:starmod:Cosmopolitan:starmod:0 -
same applies to any brand of laptop, buying it from a picture on a website is not going to give you any idea of useability (or reliability). mouse pads, buttons, keyboard layouts vary a lot.
how does the spec compare with the one you have?!!

The HP i posted about earlier is a better spec than the one I currently have (I think). At work at the moment so don't have the details to hand but I think the old one was 3gig (possibly 2) RAM and 320gig hardrive. That's all I can remember. Think it cost about £350-ish from Tesco about 3-4years ago, it has Windows Vista on.
Will see if I can get down to a shop and test out the keyboard etc before I purchase anything - thanks for the advice:) I didn't realise they could vary that much.:starmod:Cosmopolitan:starmod:0 -
It's hardly a big step up, fixing your existing one costs nothing
post a hijackthis log if you want to find out why it's slow, the link and instructions are in post 15!!

That HP is not much in the way of an upgrade to your current laptop. More RAM and a clean install of Vista would probably work wonders for your current machine. A very low cost upgrade.0

2 or 3 Gig of ram, plenty.!!
