Windows Technical Support phone calls

I have been receiving multiple phone calls from an Indian bloke who claims he is from Windows Technical Support and is contacting you about a virus/malware or hacking. If you let him follow his script (it's funny) he'll try to charge you a small fee and get you to set up remote access to your computer so the scammed can access all your files. DON'T DO THIS - IT'S A SCAM!

This is the "Windows Service Centre" one which has been quite active, too. They call with the same message but steer you toward downloading their malware. This video shows what they do, it's well worth taking a few minutes to watch. http://youtu.be/41vbCFXqRy80

I am getting sick and tired of these scum phoning me, my home number has obviously been sold as a 'hot number' as I am getting calls daily.
I've tried the polite 'no thank you, graduated to winding them up and pretending to go along with it while I make a cup of tea, i've told them to hang on while I switch my lap top on and gone back every few minutes to apolgise for delay but saying it is an old model, and I am now at the stage of losing my temper and pointing out in great details exactly why I hope they rot and are thieving scum.
Yet still they call.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've had 2 calls from them in 2 weeks. I now find it very amusing as I can usually keep them on the line for about 10 minutes before they eventually give up. Whatever you tell them, they don't want to listen, just try to get you to follow their instructions (or should that be destructions). If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

I told him he must think I'm an idiot to let a stranger have access to my computer. Told him if he called again I would blow my whistle down phone line. I find this is a very effective way of stopping nuisance calls. Must be horrible on the other end!0

On asking me what kinds of problems my computer had, i mentiioned that it never makes any tea.
He told me that his grandfather had the same problem on his computer but he had managed to fix it for him.
I asked him how he had "solved this problem", he was unable to give me a precise answer............"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170 -

A SMALL fee? They wanted to charge me  £143 for 10 years and when the pop up application for Direct Debit form appeared it had 2 years written on it!! Needless to say I backed out of it by telling the woman I mis heared and thought she said a small fee of £1.43. She wasn't happy but hey ho desktop cleaned up and they havent called me since! Although I wish I had read this before they phoned wouldnt have wasted an hour and a half on the phone to her. I got fooled as my computer gave me a warning that same morning about windows crashing and she told me they got a message direct from Windows or something. I obviously wasnt thinking right that day as walked into it and almost got conned out of £143 as it wasnt till the last second I backed out. I tried a search on here but nothing appeared I probably didnt put the correct words in though as often searches reveal nothing to me on MSE.On asking me what kinds of problems my computer had, i mentiioned that it never makes any tea.

got a call like that. He asked if i was the main user of the computer, i said "i would be if i had one "long pause, and he said "are you sure you haven't got one, It's on my list that you have." I assured him that there was no computer here and a very confused man hung up while i got on with what i was doing on my computer.0

also be aware that they claim they can "prove" that they can see your computer by quoting a "unique" CLSID.......... which is actually a reference number given to various files that appear on all xp/vista/win7 pcs!0

I *think* I've managed to stop them. They asked to speak to Mrs (surname), and I said there's no-one here by that name. It's true - I'm a Miss. He then asked me to confirm my address, to which I laughed and politely declined, asking him if he would give out his address to a random stranger who rang him. I haven't had a phonecall since, but it may be just a matter of time...
Hope this helps someone else.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0
