Credit searches

Hi - posting this here as the Experian rep seems to be around. Hope you can help -

I have generally excellent credit availability, but have successfully applied for the following recently:

1) Mid-June: Santander Bank Account (I think it gives £1,000 overdraft facility - which I didn't ask for, but there we go).
2) Mid-July: Post Office Credit Card (they gave me £1800 credit, which I won't be needing)

I would now like to apply for the First Direct bank account. When would be a good time to do that in terms of number of searches on my credit, please? I am keen to do it asap. Do I have to wait at all?

PS - house paid off, no debt at all, and pay off credit cards fully each month.

Many thanks

You should be okay to apply for a bank account. I wouldn't apply for another credit card for another 6 months though.

First Direct / HSBC aren't so cautious on Searches; they aren't as bothered. When I was approved for my HSBC current account with £1K OD I had a few searches; as did mother when she applied for FD and they offered a credit card that she didn't ask for, too.

You should be fine; so long as you can demonstrate stability - FD are picky, and if you've moved bank / house / job recently you might not ge through.

    Good luck! :o
