T.V won't work

i have a wharferdale tv it's about 5 years old, when i switch it on the stand-by button lights up like its gonna come on, but when i try to press channel on tv and remote control nothing is happening.it was previously switching itself off.my daughter used to press the channel button on tv and i thought it may be a spring or something.would it be worth it getting it fixed? does anyone know what i should do? i just cant afford to buy a new one.:confused:

    As it was previously switching itself off, it is likely to be the power supply going into shut down mode. You may be able to get it mended for a reasonable price if you can find the right TV engineer to do it.

    when i switch it on the red light (which has always stayed red when it did work)comes on. iv tried pressing and holding it, still no joy.
  • Hi Caol13, sorry can't help with the Techie query, but if the TV is not salvageable and you can't afford a new one at the mo, you might think about looking for one on Freecycle. Same thing happened to me before Christmas and a nice lady (!) was looking for a new home for a small spare TV. No frills or anything, but it's seeing me through.
