i have a wharferdale tv it's about 5 years old, when i switch it on the stand-by button lights up like its gonna come on, but when i try to press channel on tv and remote control nothing is happening.it was previously switching itself off.my daughter used to press the channel button on tv and i thought it may be a spring or something.would it be worth it getting it fixed? does anyone know what i should do? i just cant afford to buy a new one.

What happens when you press the actual on/off button I/O on the TV?. Press and hold if need be.0

The stand by light comes on!
As it was previously switching itself off, it is likely to be the power supply going into shut down mode. You may be able to get it mended for a reasonable price if you can find the right TV engineer to do it. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Hi Caol13, sorry can't help with the Techie query, but if the TV is not salvageable and you can't afford a new one at the mo, you might think about looking for one on Freecycle. Same thing happened to me before Christmas and a nice lady (!) was looking for a new home for a small spare TV. No frills or anything, but it's seeing me through.0
