East Midlands - Ryanair allowing one WH Smith carrier bag?

hi there when we flew from here in April there was a notice up at WH Smiths that Ryanair would allow each passenger to carry on one WH Smith carrier bag in addition to their cabin luggage. Does anyone know if this is still the case? (ha ha no pun intended!)

Can't speak for EMA but in Liverpool some of the retailers claim you can also take on a carrier bag. Given Ryanairs T&C's say otherwise and the posters are from the retailers then it's a (potentially expensive) risk.0

Other forums are reporting this and saying it applies to Ryanair and Easyjet but that the 2nd bag can only contain goods bought airside. I have sent a pm to a member on here who works at an airport to see if he has any more info.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

If it doesn't say you can in your agreement with Ryanair, then you can't.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Bristol Airport has huge signs as you pass through security, official Bristol Airport ones, that state easyjet and Ryanair passengers can take a carrier bag from the airside shops containing purchased items.
It doesn't at all surprise me that individual airports, their retailers and the airlines may have come to local agreements. I suspect the strict one bag policy does hurt the retailer bottom line.
It also doesn't surprise me it isn't stated anywhere on the Ryanair site. For one, they probably wouldn't want to admit it, and for two it would be stupidly complicated to enter into the Ryanair terms and conditions.
I strongly doubt these airports and retailers would be displaying such signs if it wasn't true.0 -
Just found this on the Bristol Airport website http://www.bristolairport.co.uk/at-the-airport/baggage-and-security.aspx
Ryanair only allow one piece of hand luggage at the gate which includes handbags and laptop bags. In addition, each passenger at Bristol Airport can take on one piece of Duty Free shopping purchase in the departure lounge. All other bags are open to additional charges at the gate.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

sorry should have said in original post that we did take a WH Smith carrier bag on with no problems in april.0

See my post on the other thread. We DID take advantage of this on 4th July 2011 from EMA and travelled with Ryanair without any problems. Carrier bought at WH Smith for 8p. Made sure that everything we had would fit into our cabin luggage anyway - just in case (pardon the pun)!Normal people worry me.0
