Hi, my Dad died a couple of years ago and I have got all his stuff which I am still sorting through.
He was into steam trains, model engineering etc and has bound volumes and individual specialist magazines going back 50 odd years. I did sell the very early ones on ebay but to be honest there are so many of them that to list them all will take me forever.
So my query is this - does any one have any other ideas where I can post these items where collectors may search. As you can tell I am fairly new to this so all help gratefully received.

if I were you I would forget ebay and get yourself a stall at a toy fair, trains are highly collectable, just google for collectors forums and find out what the stuff is worth first so you have an idea of how to price them. we are doing the buxton toy fair on sunday and it is busier for train stalls than anything else. I am sure there should be one in your area soon, try barry potter fairs, and dj fairs."There is a light that never goes out"0

A toy fair is a good idea but only if you know what they are worth.
If they are collectable you will probably get more for them on Ebay.
If you are not desperate to get rid of them sort a few at a time.0 -
Here in south of Wales there are a few Steam Rally fairs/markets through out the year. I don't know about your area though but it could be worth looking into.0

Thank you for your replies so far. I have not been able to find any local fairs yet but will keep searching and in the mean time put them on e-bay a few at a time.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. that may be true but a lot of collectors will not even consider ebay, we get told this time and time again when giving customers a business card with both our website and ebay shop details, for some reason they just prefer fairs, I suspect because they can actually see and handle the merchandise at a toy fair. collectors are a very odd lot, especially when it comes to trains, which we don't deal with, you can spot a train collector a mile off!:rotfl: ( apologies to any "normal" train collectors)."There is a light that never goes out"0
