An 08000 number keeps phoning me and hanging up

When I return the call - there is an answering machine message saying to phone a 'free' phone number of 08000 something or other if I want to cancel the calls.
Is this a scam and can I report it to someone as they are very annoying.

if the number you are asked to call is an 0800 number then you have nothing to lose by ringing it.
you could also try 'googling' the number to see what comes up.
You should also consider getting your number registered with Telephone preference Service to prevent unwanted calls. It's FREE!

Just googled and found this web site http://www.dynamoo.com/diary/lbm-direct-marketing.htm seems I'm not the only one that gets these calls!0

A lot of these companies apparently make many similtaneous calls so there sales people have a contineous target to talk to (annoy). Time it was stopped in my opinion.

It seems to be the case that some companies make many similtaneous calls so that their reps always have a target to speak to.
This was what I said in the above post but don't know what happened to it.
