Hi, Just wondered.
I have a dead hard drive. It is an IBM deskstar with a clicking noise. Terminal I suspect but i must try to get info off it if at all possible so was thinking in investing £13 in one of these.
Has anyone had any experience of these things. Do they normally work ok and are they reliable?
Any better suggestions would be most welcome but I don't want to sling loads of money at a (probable) lost cause.

Why not connect it as a slave drive on existing IDE cable (either hard drive or CD/DVD) in computer?0

The guy who sits opposite me at work bought one of those on eBay recently. FWIW, he's very happy with it.0

That's for 2.5" IDE drives only. The advantages of the item that the OP described are that it can be used for IDE and SATA drives of 2.5" and 3.5" sizes, and that you don't have to put the drive into a box, you can just leave it out on your desk.0
