It's just me then, I seem to have a liking for last minute plannint (panicking)
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I'd love to take the week before off, but might just make do with the last two or three days. It'll depend on whether I can get three weeks off, as I am definitely taking two weeks off after the wedding even if we don't go away for the whole time!!

There are some things that can only be done in the last few days, like the final seating plan, and you definitely need a little time to yourself to recharge as well.

If everything isnt ready before the last week, youre in trouble.

Personally, I would take the Thursday and Friday off to chill, and be excited at the same time.

    Agreed.
That's what I did, and it was fine. Any holiday taken before your wedding means less time off afterwards, and wanted to beable to have my honeymoon & still have days left to take later in the year.
  • I'm well over my holiday quota this year so am only taking the day off before the wedding. I'm imagining I'll be running the favours, table plan and place settings up to the venue the day before, as well as collecting the suits and getting my nails done.

I hadn't thought about having to re-jig table plans and how long that will take?? My invites only got posted out this morning though!

I have it marked on our depts cal that I want the full week off (i get married on the fri) as well as a couple of days afterwards. however dependong on what needs done and the work load (I work in IT so my job is more or less 24/7 anyway!) I may shrink that a little and just have Wed/Thur/Fri off then Mon/Tue off the week after!

I've taken the Thursday and Friday before (we're getting married on the Saturday) and the Monday after. Thanks to MSE weekly email we got a BOGOF deal on our wedding night hotel, so we're having 2 nights!

After that, we'll be back at work for 4 days, then off on our honeymoon for 3 weeks. We deliberately chose to get married near Xmas so we could use the bank holidays and have a really long break together. I think we're both looking forward to our hotel mini-moon and then our 3 week holiday more than the actual wedding :)
  • Off for 3 weeks due to the way the honeymoon flights are - so didn't want to take the week before off as well! Got the day before off.

I think it depends on how elaborate your wedding is - how many home made things you're doing, how many suppliers you need to pick things up from etc...some people will need the time, others won't. Judgement call I'm afraid!

  • I was planning on taking the Wed, Thu, Fri off before the wedding (wedding on sat), but I think that'll now depend of what we end up doing for our honeymoon. I don't want to be arriving back of honeymoon on the Sunday, and straight back to work on the Monday!

I'm taking the week before off. But i have family coming from overseas who want to get involved so i will leave a few jobs til then. plus just to chill out and do lots of facials (as unsubtly suggested by the make up person!)

Hijacking the thread slightly but be careful about facials too close to the wedding as I understand they can bring out spots, but could be an old wives tale- something about bringing out impurities...
