Claiming working tax credits or child tax credits while on SMP

Hi

We don't qualify for the above while I'm working but just wondered while I'm on SMP I'm guessing I'd qualify, or we'd qualify.

I'm also wondering if anyone knows if applying for these as a joint claim would link mine and OHs finances?

One more, I'm currently repaying an overpayment from wtc, If it worked out I was entitled to anything it wouldn't materialise but come off my over payment? If it was just in my name.

TIA

You need to claim as a couple as you are a couple. So both sets of income is taken into account for these.

It is based on your joint income for the tax year. I don't think the previous overpayment would come out of the money as it would be a new and separate claim.
  • Thank you I'll check it out later in the year!!
