Thinking of switching both electric & gas to Scottish Power. In general do these switches go well, do the companys do everything for you and will I get a begging letter from BG & EDF pleading with me to stay ??
Thanks

If you have decided that Scottish Power is the company for you, just go for it and save yourself some money! The longer you wait the less you will save. Personally I wouldn't bother with companies like uswitch as they do seem to take ages. Simply ignore any pleading from present suppliers if you have decided to switch. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

What about the cashback you get from the switching sites?0

Rather small when compared to the total annual energy bill. If you sign up though a switching company, you then have to wait for them to process your application, which has taken month for some switchers! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

It seems to be more trouble than it's worth.
OP, I'm surprised anyone will find gas cheaper than Ebico?? and you need quite high elec to beat Ebico too.
So I was just wondering what your first half of your postcode is and annual kwh for gas & elec? It can't hurt to let me have a look.0 -

I found it was more trouble than it was worth a couple of years ago with Uswitch, they lost my application even though I provided their reference details on several calls to sort it out - gave up an when direct to Ebico, they are a fair trade supplier and I'm happy with them.
Allow 5-6 weeks for things to sort themselves out. Ebico (via Southern Electric) do keep you informed of what is happening.0 -
Who are ebico, are they any good and why do they not appear on any of the price comparison sites ??

Ebico are classed as a social tariff, and do appear if you press the right button. Energyhelpline comparison site ,however, show them in there own right.0 -
Energy helpline are here:

Ebico don't do deals with comparison sites ie cashback etc.
They just offer a one tariff price to all customers, are a fair trade not for pprofit supplier and are usually one of the cheapest.
As Ken68 says, they will show on the energyhelpline site.0 -
I recently changed and was credited £15 by energyhelpline.com about one month after the date when the change to the new supplier took effect. The only problem I have had is that British Gas are dragging their feet over paying me back the £90 credit I had in my electricity account. Isn't it strange that they were quick enough to debit the £30 I owed them from my gas account?
Are you a quidco user? They are offering £35 for people taking both gas and electricity. See http://www.quidco.com/scottish-power for detailsFiscal drag, that's my problem. Too many people dragging on my fiscals.0 -

The only time I've run into problems was when I tried to carry out the switch myself, when I eventually discovered I was put onto the wrong tariff and ended up having to start the whole process again. I think, to be fair, you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.0
