Natural History Museum in 3.5hours?

I'm taking my OH to London for a convention at Earls Court that starts at 2pm. I want to make the most of the day, and was planning on going to the close-by NHM beforehand. Howevwer, it doesn't open until 10am, which gives us about 3.5 hours there until we would have to for the convention.

I have never been to the NHM and really want to make sure we see all of it in good time. Do people think it's do-able in this time period? There's just me and my OH, so no kiddies slowing us down (!) however I will be 34 weeks pregnant so can't power-walk around the place!

If this is cutting it fine on time, does anyone have any tips on the must-see things and bits that we could maybe miss?

We're actually staying the night, but the next day is reserved for the Zoo, sight-seeing Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and HoParliment, and then a wander through Covent Garden before dinner in China Town and the train home from King's Cross at 20:30 (phew!)

Plenty of time, esp without kids!
be outside the side entrance by the scienced museum for before ten and you will be in and out before the main queues even get in.

we did it over easter and were out by noon.... Worth checking out their website and look at what you are really interested in and dont sit down and eat or drink in the cafe if you are short of time

    have fun!

I went to this place on Sunday afternoon, No queues getting in and quite quiet insisde, Until I got to the only exhibit section that I wanted to see (the dinosuars) and that was just horresously busy. I am a 6ft man and was still pushed into, troden on and generaly sqyashed by the hoards of people, most of whoom were adults, After 10 minuites I gave up tring to see anything and spent 30 minuites getting out of the museum.
