Pc World.. HP Laptop - Consumer Advice and Perhaps Legal?

Options
Right, Bought my first laptop from pc world on the 14th july. This went wrong and a key broke so they replaced it after 1 week. I got my new one on the 28th july. Today it broke with a dead pixel and i was given a new one. All good and happy.. Got home.. Suprise suprise.. My new one has a dead pixel.

My question is this is rediculous and whilst i know it isnt pc worlds fault i am now seeking a refund as i am not happy. What are my entitlements?

Any help is much appreciated im going in loaded tomorrow and i want to raise hell if they dont sort it

There are international standards governing 'acceptable' levels of dead/stuck pixels. Unless the product is advertised as being Pixel Fault Class 1 (unlikely unless it is extremely high end), a single dead pixel isn't legal grounds for a refund

There's no harm in asking though, but if you 'raise hell' you're less likely to get anything than if you just ask politely

Shouldn't be a problem. You're still within 21 days of even the first one, and you're entitled to a refund during that time if it's faulty. As Darksun says, one dead pixel is within tolerance, but if they've replaced before, they'll probably take it back again.

Much appreciated! If not i did notice pc world have a notice on the wall saying "changed your mind within 21 days, Just bring it back unused etc.. " so ill get a replacement and just walk out and back in.. Sorted? Would that stand?

The same policy applies for faulty things, should be on the receipt wallet or back of your receipt. I can't see them replacing instead of refunding, but yes, you could!

  • Not wanting to be funny, but why are you buying a laptop from PC World in the first place? There are much better deals in the high street as well as online.
  • why would you need to raise hell if they replaced it twice before there should not be any issues
